The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act or Right to Education Act (RTE), is an Act of the Parliament of India enacted on 4 August 2009, which describes the modalities of the importance of free and compulsory education for children between 6 and 14 in India under Article 21a of the Indian Constitution. India became one of 135 countries to make education a fundamental right of every child when the Act came into force on 1 April 2010. The Act makes education a fundamental right of every child between the ages of 6 and 14 and specifies minimum norms in elementary schools.

Delhi is the residence to the maximum of migratory workers/labourers, some of them visit the national capital for a particular period of time and some stays and make it their permanent home, maximum of migratory labour resides in the slums with their family but due to lack of resources and money most them are unable to provide education to their children because they are left with no money to spend on their child education after spending on essential items such as food, shelter, medicines etc., and this is also the main reason for sustained poverty over the generation and also in increase in crimes & substance abuse among these children because they get into many illicit activities.

Education is the main tool that can be helpful for the sustainable development of an individual. Believing the same we are working for child education for the upliftment of underprivileged children in Delhi – NCR region under our Project Vyam as per follows: –

  • We have adopted a non – formal school named Bal Gopal Pathshala located in the slum of Mayur Vihar Phase 1 (Pusta Road) where more than 40 students of the slum are taking non – formal education in 3 shifts starting from 9 in the morning to 5 in the evening.
  • With the help of our funding partners, we are totally taking care of this school, right away from arranging the infrastructure to providing stationery items to books to mid – day meals to the students.
  • We also help these students get enrolled in nearby government schools for getting them formal education.
  • We also keep an eye on the bright students whom we can help in carrying away the education.
  • If some students are good in extra curricular activities we also encourage them and help them in pursuing their career.
